Fumigation with hydrogen phosphide: the reference protection for stored grains

For grain and seed traders and storage and transport organizations of cereals, infestation of a lot by stored product insects can lead to complete commercial downgrading. The fumigation with hydrogen phosphide (PH3, phosphine) remains the reference method for treating a large volume without handling the stock and without leaving significant residue in the grain.

Why choose EGN Expert?

Most fumigation service providers operating in Belgium have historically been concentrated around the Port of Antwerp. For a storage facility located in Wallonia, this often means longer response times and less responsive follow-up.

EGN Expert is based in Wallonia and operates throughout the territory — Hainaut, Namur, Liège, Brabant wallon, and Luxembourg — with:

  • A reduced intervention time,
  • A single point of contact, from diagnosis to certificate
  • Trained back-ups and holders of Phytolicences PS
  • A service tailored for both farms and traders, cooperatives, and mills

What is PH3 fumigation?

Phosphine (PH3) fumigation involves dispersing an insecticidal gas in a closed space — silo, cell, flat storage, big bag, or container — to eliminate insects at all stages of their development (adults, larvae, eggs).

Unlike surface treatments, phosphine penetrates deep into the goods and reaches pests lodged in the most inaccessible places. Once the treatment is complete, the gas leaves no residue on the merchandise. This makes it a particularly suitable solution for grains, flours, animal feed, and other products intended for human or animal consumption.
